Rediscovering Myself
I've been an artist my entire life.
After working in the TV industry as a costume designer, makeup artist and hairstylist for over a decade, art-making lost its spark. I was burnt out.
But a longing was within me. I knew that art was in my soul, I was meant to do it. Without a creative outlet, life felt meaningless and my mental health suffered.
Stuck at home during Covid Lockdowns, I had the opportunity to slowly nurture the creative inner child deep within me. I used energy healing to remove creative blocks and excavated my passion.
Although I've worked in many art forms over the years - painting, sewing, makeup, and wood-burning to name a few, I'm currently in love with basketry and excited to share this beautiful, ancestral art form.

Art Takes Many Forms

I believe that art takes many forms - it may be a plate of cookies you make for your family, a chicken coop you build on your property, or going dancing on Fridays. Our journey as creatives is ever-evolving.
Although it's not where I place my primary focus these days, I am extremely proud of the work I've done in the entertainment industry and grateful for all the extraordinary artists I've met along the way. I'm also the writer and director of the short film, Paper Crane which stars Elise Bauman. A true passion project, my team and I raised money on Kickstarter to make this film and tell this important story about sexual assault.
For 8 years, we used Paper Crane as an outlet for survivor outreach and anti-rape advocacy. We maintain a list of resources for trauma survivors which can be accessed here. The film has screened around the world, and you can now view it for free on YouTube. All of the experiences I've had as an artist, as a writer, as a director, as film school professor - they've all made me a better human, and I bring all my knowledge to the work I do now.
