Nursery Blessing

Many parents put lots of time and energy into creating a nursery before bringing home their baby. Some parents choose not to set up a nursery and to keep Baby in their room, or perhaps set up a cozy nursery corner. Whatever setup you choose for Baby to come home to, I'm sure you want it to be a special space filled with love.
The Nursery Blessing is a gentle ritual I preform in your home to prepare the energy of this space. The ritual generally takes place while the mother is pregnant, before Baby has arrived. If parents are living together, it can be wonderful for both parents to be present in this sacred time. If you have older children who wish to be involved, it can be a nice way to involve them in the anticipation of bringing home a younger sibling. However, if your older child/children is/are going to distract you from enjoying the ceremony, I respectfully invite you to schedule a relative, friend, or babysitter to come over and help keep an extra eye on your older child/children while we are in the nursery. |

You (the expectant mother), myself, and anyone else in the family you wish to be present, will get comfortable in the nursery, perhaps with a warm cup of tea. During the ceremony, I will use natural aromatherapy sprays to clear the energy of the room (rather than smoke cleansing or incense which is sometimes used in other clearing ceremonies). I will also be sending Reiki energy to the room and to your home, asking that energies of stress, fear, anger, or any other stagnant energy please leave the space. The Reiki provides a powerful healing to the energy of the home, and creates a bubble of love and high-vibrational energy in the nursery.
We will take some time together to discuss the hopes, prayers, and dreams you have for your child who will soon arrive. I will then lead you and any other family members present in a meditation, visualizing the joy and love that will soon be present in the nursery space.
Other elements will be integrated into the ritual based on your specific preferences, needs, and desires. This ritual is completely unique to each family, and will be carefully adapted to suit you. I ask that the nursery be mostly-finished before the ritual is performed. Doing the ritual while construction or re-decorating is in progress is less effective because the decorating process can re-introduce new stress to the environment after it has been cleared.
I typically suggest setting aside about 90 minutes for the nursery blessing - though it may be slightly shorter or longer based on your family and other factors.
