Womb Blessing
The 13th Rite of the Munay-Ki:
|
About the Rite
The Rite of The Womb was gifted by the Spirit of the Amazon to a female shaman and has been passed from womb-space to womb-space for centuries.
It has been formalized as the 13th Rite of the Munay-Ki by Marcela Lobos who practices contemporary shamanism.
She and her husband, Dr. Alberto Villoldo, have founded The Four Winds School which teaches shamanic healing and the Rites of the Munay Ki. “Munay" means “love and will“ in Quechua and “ki“ comes from the Chinese word for “energy.”
Nine rites of passage had been developed in the tradition of Munay-Ki which is based on the initiatory practices of the Q’ero shamans of Peru.
The Rite of the Womb can be received, kept, and passed by anyone whether they identify as a shaman or not.
It can be received, kept, and passed, by people of any gender identity, so long as they are pure in their intention to heal their own Feminine energy, and the Feminine energy of their ancestral lines.
The transmission cleanses old patterns of shame, trauma, abuse, and fear - both forward and backwards in time. The recipient heals their ancestors and their descendants.
Receiving the Rite changes the energetic structure and the vibration of energy held in the womb space/Sacral Chakra area.
When we say “the womb is a place to create and give birth to life” it is not necessarily about childbirth (although it can be) - it refers to all our life force energy that allows us to create art, businesses, relationships, and anything else we wish to birth in this lifetime.

What to Expect
It is not uncommon for this ceremony to bring up old memories and stuck emotions. Journaling can be very helpful to process any feelings or insights.
In the days after receiving the transmission, you may feel tired or bloated. You may notice your cycle changes or you get cramps if you are still in menstruating years. Regardless, be very gentle with yourself. Rest and drink lots of water. Cry if you need to cry. Practice yoga and conscious movement if you feel you need to move. The discomfort is coming up to be released. As it clears, you will feel more grounded, more creative, more empowered, and more connected to yourself. |
Your Ceremonial Altar
Our altar is a space of devotion to your womb. It is not an altar in a religious sense, as this is a ceremony that honors our own sacred vessel - our wombs; it is not a religious ceremony and does not conflict with any religious beliefs.
The altar is used to show love to your womb.
If we do the ceremony in person, I will set up an altar for you.
You are welcome to bring any crystals or objects that you feel connected to.
You may also bring any objects that represent your mother, grandmothers, sisters, daughters, or other women in your ancestral line.
If we are doing the ceremony remotely via Zoom, you are invited to set up an altar of love and devotion to your womb.
